Rosario Dawson and Megan Mullally are among the outraged stars venting their frustrations on social media after the police officer who shot and killed Philando Castile in July, 2016, was acquitted by a jury.
Some protesters say they plan to begin a march to the nearby St. Paul Cathedral and back.
Castile was shot in Falcon Heights, a suburb near St. Paul.
St. Anthony said officials had determined that "the public will be best served" if Yanez is relieved of his duties in law enforcement.
One juror said the jury was split 10-2 earlier in the week for acquittal.
Family and friends of Valerie Castile and Philando Castile walked out of the courthouse in shock after Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty on all counts in the shooting death of Philando Castile, Friday, June 16, .
Yanez testified that he acted out of self-defense when he saw Castile go for his pistol despite the officer's orders not to reach for it.
Yanez proceeded to tell him not to reach for it, to which Castile replied that he wasn't. The aftermath of the shooting caused a national furor when it was live-streamed on Facebook by Castile's girlfriend, who was a passenger in the auto.
Castile had a license to carry a gun, but he hadn't told the officer that before the shooting took place.

Friday wasn't almost as favorable for the world's three-top ranked players, none of whom will move onto the weekend. It was McIlroy's first tournament since taking time off to tend to a recurring rib injury.
Yanez's lawyers claimed Castile's judgment was impaired at the time of the shooting because he had been smoking marijuana all day.

Yanez said that Castile matched the description of a robbery suspect, telling another officer before the shooting that he had a "wide-set nose" and a broken taillight.
Wiley added: "I can not stop crying for you, Philando", and Aduba wrote: "Truth lies somewhere here: until we value & speak for the lives of all people, we remain hinged to this chapter of history".
Yanez, 29, was charged with second-degree manslaughter - the first time a police officer had been charged with the death of a citizen in Minnesota.
Officer Jeronimo Yanez was cleared Friday in last July's death of Philando Castile. Yanez, who is Latino, testified that Castile was pulling his gun out of his pocket despite his commands not to do so. He said he has no idea how to jury reached a not guilty verdict after hearing and seeing the evidence. Prosecutors argued that Yanez had overreacted and that Castile, a school cafeteria worker, was not a threat. "My family's faces popped up in my mind, my wife and baby girl", Yanez said, his voice choked with emotion. Yanez testified last week that he fired because he feared for his life.
Although footage from the squad auto captured the shooting from a distance, it didn't clearly depict what happened inside the vehicle during those crucial few moments. Defense attorneys pointed to inconsistencies in several of her statements.
