The US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, has made a defiant appearance before the Senate Intelligence Committee, strongly denying colluding with Russian Federation to influence last year's presidential election in favour of Donald Trump.
In a February meeting, Comey said, Trump told Sessions and other administration officials to leave the room before asking him to drop a probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation.
The Sessions testimony unfolded as the FBI has been conducting an ongoing investigation into Russia's campaign operations since July, and special counsel Robert Mueller has been compiling a team of prosecutors to start his investigation.
In June 2016, after the Democratic presidential primaries, Barack Obama officially threw his support behind Hillary Clinton.
"If they would leave him alone and let him do what the American taxpayers voted him in there to do, this country would be a whole lot better off", said Draper, 64.
In this and so many other actions, like the decision to pull the US from the Paris climate accord, the president's judgment is short-sighted, morally suspect and wrong.
Some Democrats grew impatient, warning Sessions was stonewalling on vital issues. Sessions' Democratic critics quipped that's like refusing to answer questions in court, because you might later request immunity under the Fifth Amendment. "Your silence. speaks volumes".
"Many have suggested that my recusal is because I felt I was a subject of the investigation myself, that I may have done something wrong", Sessions added. "I knew that Director Comey, long-time experienced in the Department of Justice, could handle himself well", Sessions told Sen.
Soon after, Trump spoke to Coats and Rogers about the Russian Federation investigation.

However, the Warriors said Tuesday that since the team has not yet been invited to the White House , no decision is yet necessary.
The former FBI Director said that Trump's stated reasons for firing him were "plain and simple" lies".
But the attorney general pushed back hard when asked what those problematic matters could be, retorting: "There are none".
Mueller, the former FBI director, was put in charge of the investigation after Trump fired Comey and public pressure mounted for a special counsel to take over. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.
But it has today been described as a "crime scene" following revelations the probe into Russia's interference in the United States election has been widened to include allegations President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice. While Sessions repeatedly said he didn't recall having discussions with Kislyak or other Russian officials at that event, he insisted whatever contact he may have had was not improper.
Sessions told the committee that the reception area included "two to three dozen people" and said he didn't remember having a conversation with Kislyak.
Attorney and former FBI Director Robert Mueller, right, arrives for a court hearing at the Phillip Burton Federal Building in San Francisco, Thursday, April 21, 2016.
A few days after the March 22 meeting, Trump spoke separately with Coats and Rogers and asked them to issue public statements to the effect that there was no evidence of coordination between his campaign and Russian Federation.
"It's my judgment that it would be inappropriate for me to answer and reveal private conversations with the president when he has not had a full opportunity to review the questions and to make a decision on whether or not to approve such an answer", Sessions said.
