US Secret Service says it does not have any White House tapes

The U.S. Secret Service says it doesn't have any recordings or transcripts of any tapes recorded within President Donald Trump's White House.

"In response to your request, the Secret Service has conducted a reasonable search for responsive records", the Secret Service wrote in response to The Journal's FOIA request in May.

That left open the possibility that other White House staff, or Mr Trump himself, could have been involved in recording their talks, if anyone. "It appears, from a review of Secret Service's main indices, that there are no records pertaining to your request that are referenced in these indices".

However, after much damage caused by the testimony, Trump not only shot down the accusations where Comey alleged Trump had sought his "honest loyalty" but also that the President had asked Comey to close the investigation into his former National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn.

Number of Britons granted citizenship in Germany quadruples
Almost 60 percent of new German citizens had their origins in Europe, with 29 percent thereof arriving from within the EU. The Federal Statistical Office said Tuesday that 2,865 Britons became German citizens in 2016.

Trump has previously threatened to release tape recordings of his conversations, before being forced to admit such tapes did not exist.

"If there are tapes, it is probably not very hard for the Justice Department to get them", said Rotunda. Those facts provide plenty of loopholes for the president to secretly record his conversations.

Members of Congressional committees investigating Russian meddling in the election have shown interest in whether Mr Trump did tape his White House conversations with Mr Comey or anyone else.

Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders joked last week that she would look for them "under the couches", and press secretary Sean Spicer frustratingly added Monday that "the president made clear in the Rose Garden last week that he would have an announcement shortly".
