Two escaped inmates from Georgia have been captured after a chase in Tennessee, Thursday evening.

According to the FBI, Ricky Dubose, 24, and Donnie Rowe, 43, who were on the run since Tuesday, were spotted in Shelbyville, Tennessee on Thursday morning.

Police responded and started chasing the pair. When police tried to arrest the inmates, they fled their vehicle and led the officers on a foot chase until they were finally captured.

Two escaped inmates accused of slaying two Georgia prison guards were captured in Tennessee Thursday following a three-day manhunt.

The corrections officers killed have been identified as 42-year-old Christopher Monica and 58-year-old Curtis Billue.

Putnam County, Georgia, Sheriff Howard Sills said earlier today the public was in "grave danger" and that authorities did not know where the risky inmates were.

A cash reward was being offered for information leading to the men's arrest.

Rowe and Dubose had been on the run since Tuesday when they allegedly overpowered the two correctional officers while they were driving a transport bus. Nathan Deal said they were caught following a auto chase in Tennessee.

Both the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal tweeted that the inmates are now in custody.

This triggered a massive nationwide manhunt, with the authorities warning that the public was in "grave danger" because the inmates were armed. One of them fatally shot both guards, and then they jumped out of the bus and carjacked a driver who happened to pull up behind them on a state Highway 16 in Putnam County, southeast of Atlanta, authorities said.

At least one of the escapees shot and killed the officers, authorities said.

Sills said there's no visible evidence - an apparent reference to video from a security camera on the bus - showing that other inmates participated.

When authorities with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office caught up with the wanted men, the ensuing high speed chase and foot pursuit shut down Interstate 24 about 10 miles south of Murfreesboro.

Deal said the public is safe from these two men because of the tireless efforts of law enforcement.

Somehow, the pair managed to free themselves and force their way into the front of the vehicle, overpowering the guards and killing them with their own firearms.

Hours later, Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe, were face down on a concrete driveway with their hands bound behind their backs.

Rowe and Dubose shared a cell in prison, but authorities had said they couldn't be certain if that is where they hatched their escape plan.
