Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is investigating the finances and business dealings of Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and adviser, as part of the investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to officials familiar with the matter.
Just a day after the stunning report that Donald Trump is officially under criminal investigation for possible obstruction of justice, The Washington Post is now reporting that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking into Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner's shady business dealings with Russian Federation.
Several news reports said Mueller plans to interview key USA national security officials about Trump's comments seeking an end to the investigation of contacts his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, had with Russia's ambassador to Washington, Sergey Kislyak. Kushner's meeting with the head of a state-owned Russian bank was also said to be of interest to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Kushner is also close to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn who was sacked by Trump in February after he misled Vice President Mike Pence about the contents and nature of his communications with Kislyak.
The reports say one focus of Mueller's investigation is presidential conversations with Coats and Central Intelligence Agency director Mike Pompeo in late March, in which Trump reportedly asked them to intervene with then-FBI Director James Comey to ask him to halt his probe of Flynn.

The airstrike was carried out following drone footage confirmation of the meeting location, the statement said. The U.S.is offering a $25 million reward for information leading to his death or capture.
While Mueller's investigation is in its early stage, his spokesman Peter Carr told the Post "the Special Counsel's Office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures and will deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct".
On Thursday, Kushner's lawyer said any such scrutiny of Kushner's business would be "standard practice".
Kushner and other Trump business associates are being looked at in the investigation, according to a new report. Russian Federation investigation special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly investigating Kushner's finances. Kushner's attorney, Jamie Gorelick, appeared to downplay news of the investigation, saying that it was "standard practice" for Mueller to look into "anything related to Russian Federation". Gorelick pointed out that Kushner has volunteered to speak with the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is leading one of the congressional Russian Federation investigations. "He will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry", he added.
The meeting occurred as Kushner's company was seeking financing for its troubled $1.8 billion purchase of an office building in NY.
The story about Kushner's business being under investigation is a big one.
