The 2017 US Open is being played in Erin Hills, Wisconsin, from today until the weekend.

"With no rain in today's forecast Phil Mickelson has officially withdrawn from the 117th U.S. Open", they said on their Twitter page.

The blimp went down about 11:20 a.m. near Highway 83 and Highway 167.

A statement from the Washington County Sheriff's Office said its initial investigation shows the blimp may have experienced mechanical problems before the crash. Maynard said he had no more information on the status of the pilot, who has been taken to a hospital, nor on the cause of the accident.

"He stayed with the blimp until it went down", he said, adding that a crew member on ground pulled the pilot from the wreckage.

Two minutes later, the gunman , 66-year-old James Hodgkinson from the St Louis suburb of Belleville, Illinois, was down. In a break from many of President Barack Obama's speeches after a shooting , Trump made no mention of gun regulations.

Some people have said the blimp seemed to catch on fire.

The commercial advertiser that owns the blimp said the pilot appears to be alright and was the only person on the blimp.

Flight for Life has been called out to the area near Erin Hills Golf Course after a blimp went down in an open field in the Town of Erin Thursday, June 15th, Washington County sheriff's officials said. AirSign, an aerial advertising firm, was the company operating the blimp.

Maynard says he is "not 100 percent" on the condition of the pilot but that believes he is alive.
