Gandhi was released after over four hours of detention in the guest house of a cement company.
Amid the simmering tension, the Madhya Pradesh government transferred the District Magistrates of Mandsaur, Ratlam and Neemuch districts. However, no protest, rally or demonstration will be allowed during the curfew relaxation period, police said.
"The Congress is disgruntled and frustrated at the success of the NDA government and unnecessarily politicising and instigating violence in Mandsaur, the scene of the farmers' stir", Naidu told reporters here.
Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Tripathi, who has been transferred in the wake of the firing in the district that left five farmers dead, said the cases have been filed in connection with various incidents of violence.
Amidst high drama, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders were arrested after they were placed under preventive custody on Thursday, 56 km from riot-hit Pipliamandi area of Mandsaur district, the epicentre of farmers' protest where the leaders were heading.
"Modi waived off loans worth Rs 150,000 crore for the richest people in India", he said.
A former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh said: "This government is acting foolishly".
"'This government is at war with the farmers of our country" Rahul Gandhi said on a social network.

The flare-ups worsened after five farmers were killed on Tuesday when police fired on protests that had turned violent in the Mandsaur district.
Video footage from India Today showed crowds chanting "Long live freedom" as the bodies of the farmers, shrouded in the Indian flag, were paraded through the streets. "He can only give bullets to them".
Venugopal said the government uncompromisingly upholds the interests of corporate sector and lends a deaf ear to the plight of farmers.
Taking cognizance of the situation, Chouhan appealed for peace to the agitating farmers in the state and also announced a compensation of Rs. one crore to the kin of those killed in the violence.
Seeing Rahul Gandhi approaching, the police advanced the blockade near a railway crossing.
He said the Congress vice president was supposed to visit the relatives of farmers who lost their lives in police firing, to register his moral support to the farmers' agitation and ensure justice to the deceased.
The agitation has also spread to Chhindwara district in Mahakoshal region of the state. "They waive the loans of their industrialist friends, but won't waive the loans of farmers".
