A scene straight out of a horror movie unfolded in an OR grocery store on Sunday night when a man who was covered in blood, holding a knife and a severed human head walked inside the building and stabbed an employee.

He told the Associated Press: "I never foresaw a problem".

The suspect, 36-year-old Joshua Lee Webb, was arrested for the stabbing and for killing his mother, 59-year-old Tina Marie Webb, at their home about 10 miles away.

He said that Joshua was their son, and he had never seen "a problem" with him. He was booked into Clackamas County Jail Monday afternoon for murder and attempted murder. When he entered the small grocery store, he was covered in blood, had a large "kitchen-type" knife and was carrying a severed human head, authorities said.

The suspect then began stabbing the clerk, but was quickly overwhelmed by other employees who held him until police arrived.

Webb allegedly stabbed 66-year-old Michael Wagner, a white-haired checkout clerk at the Harvest Market Thriftway in the tiny OR town of Estacada, 30 miles south of Portland.

When the police arrived on the scene at the Harvest Market Thriftway grocery store, Webb was described as being nearly "catatonic" by Interim Sandy Police Chief Ernie Roberts. The woman was later identified at Webb's mother. "He was in like a catatonic state, wasn't speaking to anybody".

At approximately 2:14 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the police received a 911 phone call from the Estacada grocery store.

At Lew's Drive-In restaurant next door, where the supermarket's customers took refuge during Sunday's crime, owner Marvin Flora said the event was "traumatic, but it happened so fast that nobody really saw what was going on". According to ABC affiliate WTVM, the sales clerk is a white-haired man who is much beloved by store customers for his sense of humor and for his warm greetings. "One lady came in this morning and said she actually saw somebody come in with something that was bloody and was carrying something with his arm".
