FCA is recalling about 1 million Ram pickup trucks in the US due to a software issue that could prevent air bags from deploying.

Among the models affected by the recall are Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups produced between 2013 and 2016.

The company's US division said Friday that it is aware of one death, two injuries and two accidents that may be related to the problem. Furthermore, Ram 3500 vehicles produced between 2014 and 2016 are also covered by the recall.

Along with the 1,021,279 affected trucks in the USA, the recall covers an estimated 216,007 vehicles in Canada; 21,668 in Mexico; and 21,530 outside the NAFTA region.

Not having a side air bag or properly functioning seat belts could be very risky in the event of a vehicle rollover. The best way to verify this is if the warning light has turned off.

The Surface Laptop , though, will perhaps be the most powerful laptop based on Windows 10 S, which was also launched on Tuesday. The device has a touch screen, and can display 3.2 million pixels, like other Surface devices.

What Owners Should Do: FCA will begin notifying owners June 23. If the light comes on, drivers should then turn the truck off, and then turn the key back into the on/run position to verify that the light is no longer on.

Those safety measures "would then be unavailable in the event of a vehicle rollover", Fiat Chrysler said. The automaker has assured consumers that it will be able to reprogram the computer modules of the vehicles to correct this error.

The automaker told the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it began investigating the issue in December after it received notice of a suit involving a 2014 Ram 1500 in which the airbag failed to deploy in a rollover crash.
