A gunman killed one person and committed suicide on a college campus in Texas's Dallas on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

The Irving Independent School District says nearby Singley Academy and MacArthur High School are also under lockdown, but there are no known threats to either campus.
The identities of the shooter and the victim were not immediately released, and police spokesman James McLellan said it was too early to tell whether the two people knew each other.
North Lake College is a community college with an enrollment of about 11,000.
Dennis Holmes, an adjunct professor at North Lake College, told KXAS-TV that he had been ordered to barricade himself in the room he was in in the Performance Hall.

The college tweeted at 12:43 p.m. (ET) there is an "Intruder-Lockdown" with a "stway away" order for people not on the campus in Irving.
The school northwest of Dallas was closed for the rest of the day and will remain closed Thursday.
The suspect is a white male with a buzz cut wearing an orange tank top with a gray stripe and carrying a black jacket, Irving police said. Still, officers will keep searching campus. Additionally, a large number of students ran frantically from several buildings toward the parking lots. She said, "It sounded just like gunshots..."
They arrived at the two-year community college before noon and found the victim in one building and the suspect in another, officials said. The college's central campus sits on 276 acres in the Las Colinas area of Irving.
