Now, 18 Penn State University students affiliated with the Beta Theta Pi fraternity have been charged, including 19-year-old Daniel Casey, of Ronkonkoma.

Penn State University's president is calling a grand jury report into the death of a student after an alcohol-fueled fraternity event heart-wrenching, sickening and incomprehensible. Ten other fraternity members who face more serious charges were arraigned Friday.

According to the report, Piazza, adhering to his responsibilities as a new pledge, got dangerously drunk and wound up falling down a flight of stairs, which did not escape the notice of his brothers-to-be: nearly 11 hours before a fraternity member called 911 the following morning, several brothers were already chatting about the incident over group text. The Beta Theta Pi brothers reportedly spent 40 minutes trying to revive him before they called 911.

An attorney for one fraternity brother charged with aggravated assault said that prosecutors wrongly assume that the students should have been able to tell the difference between extreme intoxication and a life-threatening head injury.

Instead, the members of Beta Theta Pi are seen carrying Piazza's limp, seemingly unconscious, body to a nearby couch, where they then strip him of his shirt.

Another fraternity member shoved Davis against a wall and told him they "had it under control" and he should leave, according to the presentment.

A Pennsylvania judge is expected to arraign the defendants on Tuesday and set bail.

But when he arrived later, fraternity members told him to "catch up", according to the court documents. This involved the pledges hitting up station after station where they would shoot vodka, shotgun a beer or other activities.

The chapter house was celebrating with Piazza, Davis and other students who had just accepted bids to join the fraternity. "No parent should have to deal with this", said Jim Piazza, Timothy's father.

Piazza's death spurred a multitude of changes in the Penn State Greek life community.

Thomas, Celtics rap Wiz, take opener
Marcin Gortat added 16 points and 13 rebounds and Otto Porter Jr added 16 points and 11 rebounds but it wasn't enough. Isaiah Thomas trium-phantly leaves the court after becoming the fourth Celtic to surpass 50 points in a playoff game.

The members of Beta Theta Pi face a range of charges. Several minutes later he again tries to stand but falls facedown onto the wood floor.

By using a blood sample from Piazza after he was taken to the hospital as a reference, pathologist Dr. Harry Kamerow provided an estimate of the young man's blood alcohol content at different portions of the surveillance video.

Piazza succumbed to respiratory failure due to the severe head trauma he suffered when he fell, head first, down the stairs leading to the basement of the frat house on February 2. "They said, "No, you're overreacting, you don't know what you're talking about, '" Davis said".

Security footage from the house on the night of Piazza's death provides a detailed sequence of events.

Piazza died February 4, two days after he fell, having suffered a nonrecoverable brain injury, ruptured spleen and collapsed lung.

"I would encourage people to remember that our system of jurisprudence provides a scenario where you're innocent until you're proven guilty", he said.

Beta Theta Pi International Fraternity described the "nature of those charges" as "incredibly disheartening as the organization and its membership continue to grieve Tim's passing and the pain experienced by his family".

You can not call yourselves leaders if your response to tragedy and transgression is to deny it, hide the evidence of it and then treat it as bad publicity to be neutralized by high-minded hooey about leadership, service and academic achievement.

At 10:48 a.m.fraternity brother calls 911.

Penn State President Eric Barron called the series of events that led to the death "sickening and hard to understand".
