Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is determined to help David Silva win Premier League Player of the Month awards in 2017/18.

Vincent Kompany said he was happy to be discussing his goal in Manchester City's 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday rather than his persistent injury problems.

City were in prolific form as they thrashed Palace at Eastlands on Saturday.

Guardiola believes City would have been worthy champions this season had they been more clinical in front of goal. But he did make the claim that City are the Premier League's best side at creating chances. "The others, no chance".

81 - The Spain international's pass accuracy was down 6% on his 87% Premier League season average, while being bettered by all but three teammates.

"I don't want to even think about going to Old Trafford and needing points to stay in the Premier League", said Allardyce. We are the best one. I have said many times - (of) a central defender, how many duels do you win with the strikers?

With leading marksman Sergio Aguero out injured, David Silva struck after two minutes and the floodgates opened after the break with Vincent Kompany, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi all on target.

'Quite simply David Silva is the wizard, ' added Belgium global Kompany, who scored City's second goal.

"In the game against Everton, they arrive four times and we lose 4-0. We created so many yet we lost so this is something we must work on".

"Gabriel Jesus, you can see he's hungry to get goals".

"We have miss a lot this season".

There is, though, the possibility that all three could still qualify, if United win the Europa League and finish fifth.

"Some players come here in the Premier League and the first and second season are hard and then, wow - explosion". There are four incredible teams fighting for the final two places. I'm sure we can drive them on to perform at that level more and more. "It will be awesome".

Palace manager Sam Allardyce was critical of his players, suggesting that they effectively gave City the win.

Allardyce's side remain on 38 points after falling to a third successive defeat that kept them from securing their top-flight survival. "I've warned them about it but you can tell the players as much as you want and warn them as often as you can, but when they walk over that white line, they've got to have the spot-on desire, determination and ability to achieve". "That's why today it was different because we scored goals in the first minutes of the first half and the second half". "Right at the end we got the free kick and went for another goal". That is the biggest disappointment. We are the best in the league at doing that, we create more chances than anyone, but we are not always able to score the goals.
