Kirk Cousins, passing attack let Redskins down in opener

Norman is one of the top cornerbacks in the National Football League, but struggles mightily with large, big-bodied receivers like Jeffery.

At this stage in the buildup to Sunday's season opener, the Eagles need little reminding that the Redskins have won the last five meetings between the pair of NFC East rivals, but quarterback Kirk Cousins has been a significant reason for the lopsided nature of this rivalry of late.

Tune in on sunday afternoon to see just how much of a whuppin' Lane and the boys put on the Redskins. Here are five story lines to follow in Sunday's game at FedEx Field. They can play fast. They wait two quarters for things to start clicking offensively, and the defense can't allow its opponent to march downfield and set the tone. Corners may struggle vs. Kirk Cousins and the Washington offense.

Eagles RB Darren Sproles vs Redskins ILBs Zach Brown and Will Compton - Compton and Brown are solid stuffing the run, with Brown, newly-arrived from the Bills, particularly fine in that department.

Terrorist killed in encounter with security forces
The security forces had earlier on Monday killed two terrorists while taking action on intelligence inputs. He said that one AK-47 rifle and some magazines and grenades were recovered from his possession.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the teams many are looking to make a big jump this year, especially with second-year quarterback Carson Wentz at the helm.

Everyone knows that Cousins does superb in the short game of 10 or so yards, but to shake up an Eagles defense that will be prepared to shut that down, he's got to show that he can get the ball down field in a major way. The pundits had their say, and the oddsmakers had their say, but the Redskins are one of those teams that has consistently outperformed their talent over the last handful of years, and it was short-sighted to think 2017 would prove an exception. These two could have a real impact if they cam stay healthy.

Washington lost wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon, but added Terrelle Pryor, who produced a breakout season with Cleveland in 2016. Washington will go with a weak front three of Jonathan Allen, Ziggy Hood and Stacy McGee.

"The important thing is stopping LeGarrette Blount and the running game, and they have a good running game with him", Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. Now we know why Cousins said no. The two rookies, Pumphrey and Clement, have a chance to see action. It drafted wide receivers Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson and running back Donnel Pumphrey. So, the Redskins will turn to third-year pro Deshazor Everett. A lot of people seem to be buying into this, jumping on the bandwagon and labeling Philadelphia as a sleeper team to watch. Maybe not even for a few games more, and that is a frightening thought given that the Eagles will be tested early with three of their first four games on the road. Swearinger said he has the ultimate confidence that Everett could get the job done.
