President Barack Obama during a ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, Thursday, April 23, 2015, to honor the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots for their Super Bowl XLIX victory.
He is reportedly spending the day with his mother, who has been ill for the past year.
But when the New York Times tweeted side-by-side images of the 2015 and 2017 New England visits, which clearly showed more Patriots two years ago, both the team and Trump fired back, on Twitter, of course.
"Whether you're trying to win a Super Bowl or rebuild our country, as Coach Belichick would say, 'There are no days off'".
The Patriots posted another photo to their Twitter account Wednesday showing Patriots staff and players who visited the White House Wednesday, among other personnel. The Patriots had just 25 players in 2005.
In an interview with Time magazine safety Devin McCourty had previously said he was not going to the ceremony because he didn't feel accepted in the White House.

She said they can all finally sleep again. "After we placed them into protective custody, she was laughing, she was crying". More information about the capture and rescue of Tad Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas will be provided as it becomes available.
Trump saluted a number of individual players but did not mention superstar quarterback Tom Brady, whose friendship he repeatedly touted during his campaign.
Trump claimed he saw a crowd that "looked like a million and a half people" and White House spokesman Sean Spicer claimed the "dishonest" media framed the photos to make the president's crowd look smaller.
The statement went on to thank the President for the honorary celebration and for supporting the team. Hopefully, if we accomplish the goal of winning a championship in the future years, we will [be] back on the South Lawn again soon.
"I think I got this", a surprised Spicer told Gronkowski, after the receiver stuck his head through the door of the press room and asked Spicer if he needed help.
HORSLEY: Team owner Robert Kraft gave the president a Patriots jersey and a football helmet. While politics certainly played a role for some, others may have had a been-there-done-that attitude.
