Cleveland police urged a suspect who they say posted video of himself on Facebook killing an elderly man on Sunday to turn himself in to authorities.

Now, as police search for the alleged killer, who they said may have fled OH, the victim's family is urging the public to not share the gruesome footage.

Police say Stephens killed 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr.

Then a handgun comes into view, a gunshot is heard, and moments later the victim is laying in a pool of blood.

Steve Stephens, 37, claimed in a separate video he posted that he had killed 13 people - but police say they have not verified any other shootings or deaths.

The Erie County (N.Y.) Sheriff's Department issued a message to deputies over the department's radio frequency on Monday morning saying Stephens's phone "possibly" pinged in Erie, Pa., and Stephens could "possibly" be heading to this area.

As Cleveland police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were searching for Stephens on Sunday, more than 300 tips poured into the department, police said.

The video was later removed by Facebook, but it was still being widely shared online early Monday.

Authorities searching multiple states for a suspect in the deadly shooting of a Cleveland man say they have no idea what led up to what they say appears to be a random shooting. Police said he might be driving a white or cream-colored Ford Fusion, and asked anyone who spots him or his auto to call police or a special Federal Bureau of Investigation hotline (800-CALLFBI).

"We prioritize reports with serious safety implications for our community, and are working on making that review process go even faster", Osofsky said.

In the video, Stephens also mentions that he works for Beech Brook, a Cleveland organization that provides counseling services for youth.

"He said this is the last time I was going to see him", Green told CNN. Stephens reportedly uploaded another video claiming he had killed 15 other people, but officials said they couldn't confirm those deaths. Mr Godwin was a father of nine and grandfather to 14 who worked at a foundry before retiring, his son Robert Godwin Jr told Cleveland.com.

Authorities urge the public to call police with any information on the Stephens' whereabouts.

Police say Stephens should be considered armed and unsafe.

"What happened today is senseless", Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said.

The footage of the killing was on Facebook for about three hours before being taken down, and Stephens' page has also now been removed from the site. Williams said the vehicle was recently purchased and the plates could have been switched.

WOIO-TV reports that Stephens' most recent documented address was in Euclid, Ohio. One resident said Stephens was there two days ago fixing the home's garage. "He would give you the shirt off his back", he said.
