Progeria is a genetic disorder that causes a child's body to age fast.
Media personality and motivational speaker Ontlametse Phalatse has passed away at the age of 18.
According to an update on her Facebook page, Phalatse experienced breathing difficulties on Tuesday and was rushed to Hebron Clinic before being referred to Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Pretoria.
Her doctors predicted that she would only survive until her 14th birthday. The doctors did everything possible to save her.

Her death is coming weeks after she met with South African president Jacob Zuma to celebrate her birthday. "She was surrounded by her mother, brother, family members and friends", said the statement.
Zuma committed to build Ontlametse's family a home and provide her with transport for her special needs as well as improved medical care.
Daily Monitor journalist Stephen Kafeero also paid tribute to the young woman, describing her as "a candle that defied darkness with hope".
A courageous young fighter has fallen. "I was impressed by her sharp intellect‚ warm personality‚ brilliant ideas and her determination to use her condition to motivate others that they can achieve their goals regardless of any challenges‚" Zuma said in a statement. We are really proud of her. "May her great spirit rest in eternal peace", Bogopane-Zulu wrote. We wish to convey our utmost condolences to her mother‚ her whole family and the Ontlametse Phalatse Trust for this sad loss.
