The decision came days after skipper Misbah ul Haq chose to bid adieu to Test cricket.
In reply, West Indies failed to get out of second gear as a host of misjudged shots left them in all kinds of trouble inside 18 overs. Azhar Ali, Yasir Shah, Usman Salahuddin and Mohammad Abbas accompanied Misbah-ul-Haq. Pakistan will play 3 Tests in West Indies starting from April 21.
Having never successfully chased in excess of 300 in an ODI, the inexperienced Windies side tore up the form books to overhaul a challenging target of 308 with an over to spare at the Guyana National Stadium, and take a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match series. "And now I think after taking everything into count this is the best time for me to also retire from Test matches", he said.
It is also to be mentioned here that West Indies had last time won ODI series against Pakistan in 1991.
Both sides have managed to win just one out their previous five ODI matches.

Long-serving Pakistan batsman and former captain Younis Khan today (April 8) announced he will retire from global cricket after the upcoming Test series in the West Indies.
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram paid rich tribute to Younis. Pakistan bowlers came as an improved department as they showed greater intent in the second game than in the first. After making his debut against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi in 2000, the stylish right-hander went on to play 115 Tests, scoring 9977 runs at an average of 53.06 with 34 hundreds, the most for a Pakistan batsman. In contrast, the other frontline spinner in the West Indies line-up, Devendra Bishoo, was only the sixth bowler used by captain Jason Holder, conceding 36 runs from six wicketless and unthreatening overs.
"I just wanted to bat through to the end of the innings and I was able to achieve that to help us put up a good total", he said.
If the West Indies win all three ODIs, they will leapfrog their visitors to eighth position less than six months before the September 30 cut-off date for automatic World Cup qualification.
