However, with Premier League sides ready to flex their financial muscle, the temptation of selling Asoro, or any other promising youngsters, may prove too much for Sunderland who are preparing for life in England's second tier.

Manager Arsene Wenger has identified the 18-year-old as well as 17-year-old Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka as possible summer targets.

18 year old forward Asoro made four first team appearances last season, becoming the youngest ever player to play for Sunderland in the Premier League.

Both are Swedish youth internationals, and the Gunners are reportedly close to tying up a deal for the duo.

Now, the Sunderland Echo claim a host of top flight clubs are interested in securing his services, with Liverpool, Everton and Southampton thought to be eyeing a move for the youngster.

Of the three relegated sides, the Black Cats look least likely to bounce straight back and mount a serious promotion challenge, with Jermaine Defoe already signing with Bournemouth, and star keeper Jordan Pickford destined for a big move following his heroics last season.

He's a regular member of the Sweden Under-21s team and is tipped to play for Sunderland's first-team in the Championship next season.

Whilst he is yet to make an appearance for the first team, the Swede made the bench for David Moyes' final game in charge - a 5-1 defeat to champions Chelsea.
