The new job opening, which Business Insider first publicised in a story on Tuesday , pays up to US$187,000 and is for NASA's one and only full-time planetary protection officer - a role established in 1967. The recent announcement for a position that NASA has had since the 1960s - Planetary Protection Officer - has generated a lot of excitement in the public, as well as comparisons to many sci-fi movie heroes.
