Beto O'Rourke will seek the Democratic nomination to run for USA president, a source close to his campaign and an El Paso TV station said Wednesday.

US President Donald Trump travelled to the town on February 11 to justify his claim that there is a crisis on the US-Mexico border and to pitch for his promised border wall. Kirsten Gillibrand said of O'Rourke on Thursday.

Beto O'Rourke made it official Thursday, saying he was joining a crowded field of Democratic presidential hopefuls. "I think I'd be good at it".

"Perhaps most importantly of all, because our very existence depends on it, we can unleash the ingenuity and creativity of millions of Americans who want to ensure that we squarely confront the challenge of climate change before it's too late", O'Rourke said. "There are people in that are going to have resources from past elections and in terms of having lists and things because he was running against Ted Cruz, and I just view it as you run your own race, you appeal to people".

Still, he picked up several congressional endorsements on Thursday, as well as the backing of Iowa state Rep. Brian Meyer, who serves as an assistant minority leader in the state House of Representatives.

Nobody could have seen this shock coming after the way City ruthlessly saw off Schalke in the Champions League during the week. But City proved a different proposition after the break and the introduction of Sergio Aguero proved decisive.

The former congressman gained a national following with his unsuccessful run for Senate past year against Republican Ted Cruz.

Moreover, he became a sensation during a campaign during a grassroots campaign where social media was utilized to reach out to the younger generation of voters as well as the minorities.

Beto O'Rourke is already taking questions from voters in Keokuk, Iowa, in a bid to raise his profile.

And if O'Rourke declares his candidacy, the last main piece of the 2020 election puzzle will be former vice president Joe Biden, who has said he will reveal his political plans soon.

"This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us", O'Rourke added.
