Tusk, speaking to reporters after talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, echoed French President Emmanuel Macron's warnings about foreign meddling and backed his call for a European Renaissance.

French President Emmanuel Macron made an appeal to all Europeans on Monday (4 March) to re-launch the EU project by holding a conference "without taboos" before year's end that could possibly lead to a new treaty. We can't sleepwalk to a diminished Europe. "There are external anti-European forces which are seeking - openly or secretly - to influence the democratic choices of the Europeans", Tusk said, naming the "Leave" result in Britain's 2016 Brexit referendum as one such example. "Do not allow political parties that are founded by external forces hostile to Europe to decide on key priorities of the EU and the leadership of European institutions".

If Orban is endorsing Macron's proposals, it is because Macron's police-state proposals are compatible with the far-right policies pursued by capitalist regimes across Eastern Europe.

His proposals included the creation of a European agency which would provide experts to protect the voting process of each member state from cyber attacks and manipulations.

"Who told the British the truth about their post-Brexit future?" wonders Macron. "Who spoke to them about losing access to the European Union market?" He wrote: "In this Europe, the peoples will really take back control of their future".

Macron's address came less than a month from the UK's anticipated exit from the EU and three months ahead of the European elections that some observers believed threatened to bring to power populist forces who supported nationalist agendas such as Brexit. He also seeks to ban the financing of European Union political parties by foreign powers. "In this Europe, the United Kingdom will - I am sure - find its place".

The President called for a "reset of the Schengen zone and the free movement of people", a common border police agency, and a united European asylum office. He got angry with Italy, treating it as a nationalist leper.

The Associated Press reports the comments of Nadine Morano of the opposition Republicans party, who pointed out that in the whole document by France's president, the word "France" appeared only once.

Instead, he called on people to support parties who want to strengthen Europe.
