Congressmen Ted Lieu and Don Beyer wrote in a letter to Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday asked the US Department of Justice to open a criminal investigation of Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner after a media report that Trump ordered White House officials to give Kushner a top secret security clearance. "Before you impeach somebody, you have to persuade the American public that it ought to happen".
If Nadler thinks Trump committed crimes, why not begin impeachment?
"I've known him for 30 years as a prosecutor and a friend". Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House committee that would be in charge of impeachment says the panel is requesting documents Monday from more than 60 people from Trump's administration, family and business as part of a rapidly expanding Russian Federation investigation.
Watch: How does impeachment work? Nadler's talk with ABC was the clearest indication yet that Democrats have made a decision to impeach Trump and are now simply doing the legwork involved in making that happen. "You don't want to have a situation where you tear this country apart, and for the next 30 years half the country's saying, 'We won the election, you stole it'".
Democrats, who took control of the House of Representatives in elections last November, suspect Trump of a slew of potentially impeachable offenses.
An additional fear, the Democratic chairmen said, was that communications between Trump and Putin "may have been manipulated or withheld from the presidential record in direct contravention of federal laws, which require that Presidents and other officials preserve such materials".
So far, the answer is no.
And President Donald Trump is venting against Democratic prying.
It could prove hard to sway public opinion.
In tweets earlier in the day, Trump said letters sent by the House Oversight Committee to 81 people and organisations associated with him were meant to "harass innocent people".
"If anyone thinks these dangling investigations are going to be a stalking horse for a continuation of the Mueller investigation, they're dreaming", Ray said.
Trump plans to scrap preferential trade treatment for India
President Donald Trump said India has failed to assure the United States it will provide reasonable access to its markets. The US imported goods worth $5.6 billion from India in 2017 under the programme aimed at helping developing economies.
More than five House committees are now investigating alleged attempts by Russian Federation to meddle in the 2016 election campaign, the president's tax returns and potential conflicts of interest involving Mr Trump's family.
Where do Democrats go from here?
And most of "The View" co-hosts greeted all of these developments with glee. Those people included family, former business associates and current and former White House advisers.
"President Obama, from what they tell me, was under a similar kind of a thing, didn't get one letter".
President Donald Trump departs after a signing ceremony for an executive order on a "National Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End Veteran Suicide", in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in Washington. The "probe" is a transparently fraudulent political performance.
What's the immediate next step?
"They're focusing on obstruction of justice, public corruption and abuses of power", co-host Joy Behar noted.
Trump contended Monday he intends to cooperate - to some extent, at least - with House Democrats' demand for information. "It's a political hoax".
How will Republicans react to this?
Eric Trump, one of the president's sons who helps lead the Trump Organisation, also spoke out about a document request he received from Nadler.
