The Moto X4 features hands-free access to Amazon Alexa. It's like an Amazon Echo, only in Moto Mod form on the back of your phone.
Last week I wrote about two new upcoming Moto Mods. The Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa carries a retail price of $150.
One notable design cue here is the dock in which it can double as a charging stand. Motorola says this is just the thing for nightstands. The Alexa speaker will be available for $150 USA (£99 in the UK) when it ships in November to those countries where Alexa has official support. And with a 15-hour built-in battery, you won't kill your phone if you're constantly asking questions. It also seems like having an Amazon Echo speaker right in the user's pocket, wherever they go.
With the Amazon Prime Exclusive version of the Moto X4, you do get lockscreen ads, but it's also $329 which is the cheapest way to get the Moto X4.
Activision patents matchmaking system that encourages players to spend more
But there's always a way to approach this monetisation model from a more creative perspective, as publisher Activision has now shown.
This new Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa arrives in November for $149.99 at places like Amazon, Best Buy, Verizon, and Motorola's online shop.
Remember that the Smart Speaker Moto Mod can be used only when there is a compatible smartphone.
The only real reason why someone would want to purchase the module is so that they can have their Alexa on the go, with cellular data on tap. As with all Moto Mods, the Alexa speaker will snap on the back to any Moto Z series handset thanks to the 16 magnetic pins on the back of the phone. As the Echo devices were finally launched by the online retail giant Amazon earlier this month, we can also expect that this feature would be made available in India as well.
