Thrilling stalemate for All Blacks and Lions

Owen Farrell scored a long-range penalty three minutes from time as the British and Irish Lions drew 15-15 with the All Blacks to tie a series for the first time in their 129-year history on Saturday.

Warren Gatland has admitted he would relish a British and Irish Lions rematch with New Zealand at Twickenham in November.

He says they are used to winning everything but there are other teams out there who can play rugby, especially when you combine four of them into one.

"My honest opinion is yes", he told reporters.

"I think it is a fair result in the end. Gold medals are won on the training pitch, long before they are won on the rugby pitch".

In the past the Barbarians have fielded teams that were widely considered to be a Lions side in another guise in their matches to end tours from southern hemisphere nations, but the concept has been abandoned since rugby went professional in 1995.

"We played well in the first Test, they played well in the second".

"A bit weird really", said Farrell of how he felt when he wandered into the mixed zone in his red velvet Lions blazer an hour later.

"Any questions on the future of the Lions series should be firmly put to bed given the extraordinary success of the past six weeks".

"It would be nice to see a victor", he said.

Born and raised in Drury, south of Auckland, Read travelled south to Canterbury to make his rugby mark and has since won nearly everything in the game - from two World Cups to Rugby Championships and a Super Rugby title.

CHP officials told AFP that numbers at the rally could be more than two million but this could not be immediately confirmed. Huge crowds have packed central Istanbul at a mass rally in Istanbul to protest against President Erdogan's rule.

The New Zealand Herald ran a cartoon of head coach Gatland dressed as a clown following the first Test.

They're only the second team to not lose a test series in New Zealand, which is some achievement however it was done.

"It was a very odd atmosphere that we hadn't quite set out to do what we wanted to do, but in the cold light of day the boys have realised what an incredible achievement it is to draw in New Zealand", he said.

It's better than losing I guess.

"We weren't really happy with the way we played last week so certainly we've got to make a change. the boys are pretty confident with what we've got in our group", he said.

"You'd like to see a clear victor at the end of the tour", said Furlong.

Owens' touch was ruled unintentional - despite clearly making a grab at the ball - and an All Blacks' attacking scrum was set, which they duly wasted as the match and series ended all square at Eden Park.

"I had it last week but I didn't think it was right time to wear it (after the second Test)".

All Blacks captain Kieran Read, who was looking to hit back in his 100th global after last week's second-Test defeat in Wellington, said it was "certainly not what we came here to do".

"There's a possibility that if that opportunity came again it would be something you would consider".
