Mark Wahlberg: If Michael Bay is done with 'Transformers,' so am I

Wahlberg is referring to the fact that his director Michael Bay has (once again) stated The Last Knight will be his final Transformers movie.

The latest in the series, "Transformers: The Last Knight", is reportedly the last time Michael Bay will direct the series.

Director Michael Bay's final time (or so he says) at the helm of the franchise is filled with a lot of fun and weird moments to counter the serious tone of the story, which includes Optimus Prime turning evil and the possibility that the world will come to an end. I've always said that I think that would be a great idea.

An event held by Smyths Toys, the initiative was part of the on-going celebrations around the cinematic release of Transformers: The Last Knight.

It looks like the fifth Transformers film will be the last one with Mark Wahlberg in it. In this episode, Cade discovers that the Transformers have been around since Arthurian times - cue the mud-spattered flashbacks - and it turns out he must carry the torch of knighthood into the present day.

Bumblebee made his movie debut in the 2007 "Transformers" movie as a lovable yellow Autobot who protected Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) from the Decepticons and instantly became a fan favourite.

"I look like my mum in the '70s - it's just really bad!" Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro reprise their roles for the first three Transformers movies.

"The objective of that movie is to develop more time with less robots in a way and to go back to 1985 and go back to sort of the original heritage if you would of the "Transformers". G1". It packs in the regular combination of as many Transformers marketing opportunities as possible and some of the biggest stomp-on-a-city action sequences as we're likely to see until Pacific Rim 2 shows up in early 2018.

Let me start by saying that I've always had high hopes and a soft spot for this franchise, having been just the right age to have caught the back end of the original run of Transformers the 1st time round these films have nearly been a guilty pleasure. However, no matter what new knowledge this movie imparts, it is still ultimately a Michael Bay movie.

If you decide to check out the movie anyway, watch it for Anthony Hopkins. The supporting cast are no slouches either with Hollywood royalty Sir Anthony Hopkins and Laura Jane Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy) playing somewhat of mentor and love interest roles to Mark Wahlberg's Cade respectively. "The movie is shorter (by about 15 minutes) than the last one, though, and considerably more bearable". Now if Travis Knight can just make Bumblebee an actual Volkswagen Beetle this time, this could well be the ideal Transformers movie. However, he later changed his mind and decided to make one more film in the successful Transformers franchise!
