Rafael Nadal has become the first player to book his place at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London in November after the Spaniard won Sunday a record 10th French Open title in Paris.
"It's a while since I didn't play a very good Wimbledon".
"Sorry to all the great fans in Britain and to the tournament organisers".
Nadal's victory in Paris gave him a record 10th trophy at the clay-court tournament and ended his three-year drought without a Grand Slam title.
It is a first grand slam final defeat for the Swiss, who won the Australian Open in 2014, here two years ago and the US Open last summer.
Nadal will be back in action in the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club in a week's time, and his success here potentially bodes well for the grass.
The sporting world witnessed Rafael Nadal make yet more history at Roland Garros, yesterday, as the King of Clay comprehensively defeated Stan Wawrinka in straight sets to lift his TENTH French Open title. Nadal is just short of winning one more game at the French Open to claim a record of winning eleven titles at the single grand slam, a record which is now held by Margaret Court.

"I play my best at all events, but the feeling here is impossible to describe".
However, despite boasting a 15-3 head-to-head superiority over 32-year-old Wawrinka, the oldest man in the Paris final in 44 years, Nadal is wary of complacency. "The title was very important for me".
Wawrinka had had an impressive run to the finals as he saw off Andy Murray, the world number one, but he had a hard time doing the same with Nadal.
Nadal won 24 of 25 matches on clay and snared a 10th Monte Carlo, 10th Barcelona and fifth Madrid crowns over the past two months in an epic surge. Nadal wins 16 times from 19 head to head, with the three-time Grand Slam champion Wawrinka. "So I expect to see a strong Djokovic in the future".
Federer had defeated Nadal at the season-opening Australian Open in January besides also hammering the Spaniard in Indian Wells and Miami.
"I want to be a champion on the match courts, so I'm going to be playing a regular schedule for the second part of the season".
Nadal, the last Grand Slam victor in the French Open in 2014, had to fight with a number of injuries.
