CBS46 affiliate WSMV-TV reported that the inmates tied up a couple in a home at gunpoint in Shelbyville, TN, and stayed there for about three hours Thursday afternoon.

The men will be booked into the Rutherford County jail in Murfreesboro.

Sills wouldn't comment on whether the other 31 inmates left locked inside the bus with the slain guards' bodies revealed how the two escapees managed to get out of the secure compartment and overpower the guards.

Two Georgia inmates who escaped from a prison bus Tuesday after allegedly killing a pair of prison guards were captured Thursday following a massive manhunt.

The two inmates who authorities say escaped a Georgia corrections bus after killing two guards were captured Thursday night in Tennessee after a three-day manhunt.

Two Georgia fugitives Donnie Rowe, top, and Ricky Dubose, bottom, were arrested in Tennessee.

Authorities have located both of their weapons from the crash site and turned them over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Mark Gwyn, director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, said in the news conference. "I am grateful to everybody and thankful to God himself for minimizing any further harm to anyone".

After a Rutherford County, Tennessee, Sheriff's Office unit spotted the couple's stolen vehicle on the road, authorities were called in and they pursued the suspects in a 10-mile chase with speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour, officials said. Then they stole a pickup truck from a nearby industrial site sometime between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sills said.

Rowe and Dubose crashed the auto and ran into the woods and came upon a house at the end of a long driveway.

Shots were fired, authorities said. Officials credited two neighbors for holding Dubose and Rowe at gunpoint until they arrived.

"They will be brought to justice swiftly for their heinous crime against our officers", Georgia department of corrections commissioner Greg Dozier said in a news release.

"Two extremely unsafe people, well-armed and traveling at high speeds throughout our community was a grave concern and we acted accordingly and they were soon captured by us and other agencies", Goodwin said.

In a statement, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal thanked law enforcement officers for their support and assistance. Rowe and Dubose ate food in the couple's house, Swing said, and later fled in one of the couple's cars, after which the victims were able to free themselves and call authorities.

As for the correctional officers, the two men who were unfortunately killed were Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue, hired in 2009 and 2007 respectively.

The pair of inmates stole the couple's auto and a chase with authorities ensued. By then, the trail had gone cold.

A reward had been offered for information leading to the pair's arrest.

"I'm sure (the keys) were left" in the truck, Sills said.

Authorities warned that the men, who had escaped with the guards' 9 mm pistols, were considered very unsafe.

The man and woman were threatened during the ordeal, Swing said.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said it's a relief to have the inmates back in custody. "I'd say 15 or 20 minutes later, they came out with their hands up, is what we were told, and surrendered".

"I saw two brutally murdered correctional officers, that's what I saw", he told reporters.

Both inmates were serving time for armed robbery and other crimes.

Rowe, 43, was serving life without parole for a 2001 armed robbery in Bibb County.
