"He remains in fair condition as he continues an extended period of healing and rehabilitation", the hospital said in a statement posted on its web site.

The gunman who shot at Republican lawmakers practicing for a charity baseball game did not post online any threats against or references to members of Congress before the attack, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, FBI officials released findings of the federal investigation into the shooting at a press conference. Prior to his departure from IL, a neighbor reported Hodgkinson to police for firing a gun on his property, but police determined he had not committed a crime.

Hodgkinson had made no direct threats to the Congressional baseball team, officials said.

Hodgkinson legally purchased the rifle in March 2003, and modified it to accept a detachable magazine and replaced the original stock with a folding stock, Slater said.

Shooter Moved to Va.in March, FBI Says In March 2017, Hodgkinson told his family that he was leaving Belleville, Illinois, for Washington, D.C. But he didn't tell them what he would be doing in the city. In November, shortly after Trump was elected, he purchased the two guns that he used in the shooting, a rifle and a 9mm handgun.

Spicer and his deputy Sarah Huckabee Sanders have only held four on-camera briefings in June. On Thursday and Friday, CNN aired the briefing audio in its entirety shortly after it ended.

Hodgkinson acted alone and had no ties to terrorism, Slater said at the news conference. He, Mika and others were shot or otherwise injured in a mass shooting carried out by James Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Illinois, who later died in the hospital of gunshot wounds.

The group of lawmakers and staffers were practising for a charity game against a team of Democrats that was played the next day and raised over US$1 million (S$1.39 million). U.S. Capitol Police and other officers returned fire and killed the gunman.

The FBI found a Google search of truck stops, maps and toll-free routes to the Northern Virginia area on his computers.

Investigators did find a list of lawmaker names that had been put together by the gunman, but there was no evidence to suggest that it was some kind of "hit list" or part of a broader plan to target individual members of Congress.

In light of the shooting, Griffith has called on Republicans and Democrats to tone down their heated rhetoric. An activity log at the storage facility showed that Hodgkinson visited the unit more than 43 times between April and June, usually in the early morning hours and sometimes twice a day.

Charles Orear, 50, a restaurant manager from St. Louis, has previously said he became friendly with Hodgkinson during their work together in Iowa on Sanders' 2016 campaign.
