Arab states send Qatar 13 demands to end crisis, official says

That's according to a list obtained by The Associated Press from one of the countries involved in the dispute.

The split between Qatar and the other nations has its origins in the Arab Spring, and resentment among the other GCC nations that al-Jazeera was generally favorable in coverage of pro-democracy protesters in the region. Expel members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard from Qatar and cut off any joint military cooperation with Iran.

Suspend all diplomatic ties with Iran.

- End interference in sovereign countries' internal affairs. Revoke Qatari citizenship for existing nationals where such citizenship violates those countries' laws.

The four countries say that the list will become void if Qatar fails to comply in the 10-day period.

Doha has not yet issued a formal response to the demands, but government representatives have previously stated negotiations can not begin until the Arab coalition lifts its sanction regime.

"Agreement was reached on increasing efforts towards ending tension in the region related to Qatar", the sources said in a statement. Tillerson today said he wanted the list of demands to be "reasonable", which may point to them trying to dial back some of the most extreme aspects of it.

Gargash says publicizing the demands will prolong the Qatar crisis and that undermining "serious diplomacy will lead to parting of ways".

Under Qatari law, foreigners working in the country must secure their employer's consent to receive an exit permit allowing them to leave.
