President Moon Jae-in on Thursday urged China to do more to rid North Korea of nuclear weapons, noting the communist state may acquire nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile in "the not too distant future".
A coroner's office in OH is investigating the death of 22 American Otto Warmbier who died less than a week after his return to the USA after almost a year and a half in North Korean detention.
The news comes following the death of USA student Otto Warmbier on Monday - just days after he was returned to his family in an unconscious state last week after being released by Kim Jong-un's officials for "humanitarian reasons". "It's worth a forceful response".
The calls for a response come as spy satellites detected new activity at North Korea's underground nuclear test site for the first time in several weeks, according to two United States officials who spoke to CNN.
What follows is a closer examination of one of the more perplexing and heart-rending developments in North Korea's long, antagonistic standoff with its neighbors and Washington. He got 15 years in a labor camp after being convicted of stealing a North Korean propaganda poster while on a five-day tour of the country. The U.S. often sends powerful warplanes in times of heightened animosities with North Korea.
Warmbier's family declined to have an autopsy performed on him, the Hamilton County Coroner's Office in OH said Tuesday, deciding that only an "external examination" would be performed. But they found no evidence that he had contracted botulism, casting doubt on North Korea's claim that he fell into a coma after contracting botulism and taking a sleeping pill.
Congress still hopes JD (U) will be with Opposition over President election
This development comes following the announcement of him being the NDA's candidate for presidential polls, due next month. Stalin, PMK leader Anbumani Ramdoss and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, who extended her party's support to the NDA candidate.
Doctors at Johns Hopkins are saying that the kind of brain damage in Otto's case is unlikely without "external intervention" - euphemism for torture of some sort. Warmbier's death makes it imperative that North Korea release three other Americans it has detained. He arrived in the United States last week in a coma and died just days later.
"We would not share them (details) at this point", White House said but did not confirm or deny that North Korea tortured Warmbier or whether they know something that we don't. Nor was any joint statement issued, although the US was willing to do so. North Korea's demands include a peace treaty to officially end the Korean War and the removal of USA troops from the Korean Peninsula.
The 48-year-old published an account of his imprisonment and spoke with various media outlets after his 2014 release but said he stopped speaking out after Pyongyang warned his "jabbering" was imperilling the release of two American detainees - including Warmbier. "Aren't you giving in to them?"
Another reading is that Warmbier's death may simply show a pattern of North Korean callousness and a lack of concern over diplomatic repercussions. Outside groups say North Korea tortures thousands of its own citizens at prison camps.
What did North Korea do to Otto Warmbier?
"China understands that the United States regards North Korea as our top security threat", Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters following meetings with Chinese counterparts. Maybe with Jared and other members of his administration serving as mediators between his father-in-law and the Chinese government, there will be fewer Twitter outbursts and more cohesive policies. After meeting Chinese president Xi Jinping in early April, Trump said he was dialing back his hard-line approach to China on trade because he was convinced of Xi's commitment to address North Korea.
