Spicer: Warmbier's Death a 'Shame,' China Needed to Help More

Senators John McCain and Marco Rubio did not mince their words as they expressed outrage over the death of the 22-year-old, who was released back to the USA last week in a coma and later died. There will be more interviews and records reviewed. "The way his detention was handled was appalling, and a tragedy like this must never be repeated", said the China-based Young Pioneer Tours. Two years later, after suffering myriad health problems brought on by forced labor, Bae's 15-year sentence was cut short and he headed home to Washington state.

USA rights group Human Rights Watch said Warmbier's death highlights the North's position as "one of the worst rights abusing governments in the world". Doctors at Cincinnati Hospital said he had brain damage that most likely was caused by deprivation of oxygen, not botulism, which the North Korean government said had caused Warmbier's illness.

Why? To make a political point, to show the USA that this is what you get if you mess with North Korea.

The statement also said that the medical record from an air ambulance service that brought Warmbier to OH and data from the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre, where he was hospitalised until his death, have been reviewed. It remains unclear what caused the University of Virginia student's severe health problems when he was in North Korea.

For months, Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and top aides have staked any progress dealing with North Korea's burgeoning nuclear programme on China's involvement.

It's unknown what Warmbier died from after being in the custody of the North Koreans.

In just over a month, USA forces have struck Iranian-backed Shia militias in southern Syria three times, and on Sunday a U.S. It was the second time this month that the US has shot down an armed drone in the vicinity of the camp at Tanf.

The coroner's office in Cincinnati is investigating the death of the American college student who died less than week after his return from North Korea, where he was detained near a year and a half. North Korean authorities said that the student had fallen into the unresponsive state after taking a sleeping pill and experiencing botulism.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said those "stupid" enough to want to travel to North Korea should be required to sign a waiver that would absolve the US government of any blame for harm to those citizens while overseas.

"Unfortunately, the very bad torturous mistreatment our son received at the hands of the North Koreans ensured that no other outcome was possible beyond the sad one we experienced today", the Warmbiers said. He had had planned to study in China in his third year of college and heard about Chinese travel companies offering trips to North Korea.

This story has been corrected to show the coroner's last name is Sammarco, not Sammaraco.

Han Tae Song, North Korea's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, speaking in his first interview since taking up the post in February, declined to comment specifically about Warmbier's case or the fate of other American, South Korean and Canadian detainees still held by his country.

Do you agree that Obama is responsible for the fate of Otto Warmbier?
