Kalanick & Michael Out, Martello In at Uber?

More significantly, former Uber executive Eric Alexander was found to have obtained the personal medical records of a customer who was raped by a driver in India in 2014, Recode previously reported.

According to a report by Quartz, many at Uber were surprised Michael wasn't dismissed after the karaoke bar scandal came to light earlier this year. Uber has met with a torrent of controversy relating not only to its business model, but claims by staff the company is badly managed and is rife with sexism and sexual harassment.

Uber's image, culture and practices have been largely defined by Kalanick's brash approach, company insiders and investors previously told Reuters.

Uber has fired more than 20 employees for infractions including sexual harassment and discrimination.

The vote comes almost four months after a former engineer, Susan Fowler, published a blog post alleging that a superior propositioned her on her first day. Top candidates for a management committee include operational leads Rachel Holt, Andrew Macdonald, and Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, along with product chief Daniel Graf, and potentially human resources head Liane Hornsey, the people said.

The changes would also further destabilise the leadership at Uber, which has upended the transportation industry worldwide.
