For Warner Bros. and Legendary Films, Godzilla 2 will serve up an incredible dish with this third entry into the ever-growing kaiju genre. While previous reports pegged the movie's title as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, this press release goes out of its way to never actually refer to the film by any title, meaning that the title might be changing (which would be a bummer).
"The film, which begins principal photography this week, is being directed by Michael Dougherty ('Krampus, ' "Trick "r Treat"), and stars Vera Farmiga ('Up in the Air, ' "The Conjuring"), Kyle Chandler ('The Wolf of Wall Street, ' "Manchester by the Sea"), Millie Bobby Brown ('Stranger Things"), Bradley Whitford ('Get Out"); Thomas Middleditch ('Silicon Valley"), Charles Dance ('Game of Thrones'), O'Shea Jackson Jr. ("Straight Outta Compton"); Aisha Hinds ("Star Trek Into Darkness"); and Golden Globe nominee Zhang Ziyi ("Memoirs of a Geisha", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"). This new film will pit Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history including Mothra and Rodan. Godzilla 2 follows Gareth Edwards' Godzilla and Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island and will co-exist in the same ecosphere as those films.
While Edwards was intending to direct Godzilla 2, he dropped off the project a while back.

The after-credits scene of Kong: Skull Island teased several classic movie monsters like Mothra and King Ghidora. It was announced that a select few of them will be reprising their roles for Godzilla 2, or even Godzilla: King of the Monsters, as the movie is apparently named.
Filming is taking place mainly in Atlanta, Georgia. With a release date in 2019, we can only hope that Legendary Films and Warner Bros. prepare us for the ultimate fight between both King Kong and Godzilla as they fight for supremacy in 2020.
While Godzilla locked horns with some feisty monsters last time around, his second outing sees some truly legendary foes coming his way and one hell of a problem for mankind.
