The horrific fire early Wednesday morning has put increased pressure on May and her senior ministers at a time when her authority has been weakened by an election that saw her Conservative Party lose its majority in Parliament.

The government has said it is carrying out an "urgent inspection" of roughly 2,500 similar tower blocks across the country to assess their safety. It was reportedly flammable, and it might have been banned on buildings above a specific height.

The 91-year-old monarch said that Britain remains "resolute in the face of adversity" after the horrendous fire and recent extremist attacks in London and Manchester. He says it will take weeks or longer to recover and identify all the dead at the charred building.

Eleanor Kelly, chief executive of Southwark Council, on behalf of the newly established Grenfell Fire Response Team, said: "We want to make clear that whilst the emergency and local community response was nothing short of heroic, we know that the initial response was simply not good enough on the ground".

The London mayor on Sunday also addressed whether the flammable aluminum cladding speculated to have contributed to the blaze's rapid spread up the 24-story structure was illegal, telling press that fire services were "currently testing that cladding".

Metropolitan Police said family liaison officers have been deployed to support 52 families of residents who died, were injured or were reported missing. "It will also be a subject that the criminal investigation will be looking at", he said.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, facing criticism for the government's handling of the disaster, met Saturday with a small group of fire survivors invited to her official residence at 10 Downing Street.

He added: "Sadly, for many families, they have lost more than one family member and my heart truly goes out to them".

He told ITV: "Occupy it, compulsory purchase it, requisition it - there's a lot of things you can do".

Some residents had warned months ago that the tower represented a risky fire risk.

He also said it might not be possible to identify all the victims owing to the intensity of the fire and devastation it had caused.

His family said Alhajali "came to the United Kingdom because he had ambitions and aims for his life and for his family".

Seventy-nine people are dead or missing and presumed dead following a devastating blaze in a London high-rise building last week, police said on Monday, as Britain held a minute's silence for the victims.
