Leaders from both the parties confirmed that Shah didn't give out any names or probable presidential candidates during the meeting but has reportedly assured Uddhav that once the BJP finalises a candidate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to him (Uddhav).
BJP continued its efforts to reach out to various political parties to widen its support base for the presidential election, with the three-member panel of Union ministers talking to the ruling NDA members Shiv Sena and LJP, as well as other parties such as the SP, TMC and BJD, which may back the ruling party candidate.
Sources said that while the party is being "cautious", chief Uddhav Thackeray is likely to clarify his stance when he addresses Shiv Sena workers on Monday evening - the party's 51st foundation day. Thackeray, according to party officials, said: "The Shiv Sena will remain with the NDA in the Presidential polls".
Apparently, reiterating the old tune, Thackeray once again pitched the names of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and agro-scientist MS Swaminathan for the top post.
Urging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to name a candidate for the upcoming president polls, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut told ANI, "Till now, our opinion has not been sought in the regard".
"Whatever has to happen in Maharashtra mid-term polls will happen". The CM looks totally in command in the state and has convinced the BJP leadership about why it is important to keep the Sena in good humour atleast for now.

On the recent farm loan waiver announced by the Maharashtra government, Mr. Shah had said through it the state was offering relief to the farmers. "Shivsainik is not just a burning ember, but will rise like a forest fire", Thackeray said.
