Republicans and Democrats fight for bragging rights Thursday in the annual Congressional Baseball game as one unit - Team Scalise.
Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise remains in critical condition, but his vital signs have "stabilized" two days after being shot during a congressional baseball practice on Wednesday, hospital officials announced Friday. Take a look at photos from Nationals Park in Washington D.C. when lawmakers and citizens came out to support Scalise in solidarity.
On Wednesday morning, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson opened fire on participants of the Republican baseball practice, injuring US Scalise and four other individuals.
Three others were shot Wednesday, including Matt Mika, director of government relations for Tysons Foods, who was in critical condition after being shot twice in the chest; Capitol Police Special Agent Crystal Griner, who was shot in the ankle; and Zack Barth, an aide to Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas), who was shot in the calf.
Aguilar plays outfield for the Democratic team; before the shooting, Scalise was slated to play second base for the Republicans. The commander-in-chief said, "By playing tonight we are showing the world that we will not be intimidated by threats, acts of violence or assaults on our democracy".
Donations from the game will go toward Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, The Washington Literacy Center and The Capitol Police Memorial Fund.

Vice President Mike Pence has also hired a private lawyer to represent his interests in the expanding probe. The Washington Post , citing unidentified officials, carried the report on Wednesday.
The handwritten list reportedly included the names of Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan and Arizona Rep. Trent Franks, who were all at the baseball practice, according to NBC News and CNN.
"That was tough for me", Duncan said. "It's about Republicans and Democrats".
Scalise has previously played in the congressional game, and in previous years wore a variety of Louisiana jerseys. That lasted until the end of the seven-inning game.
After Thursday's result, the all-time record in the game is 39 wins each, for both Democrats and Republicans, with one tie. "It'll be a different game without him there".
The Congressional Baseball Game Facebook page will also carry a live stream of the game and it will be broadcast on C-SPAN, a spokeswoman for the Congressional Baseball Game said.
Democrats bounced back from a loss past year, when the game was played the night after they held an all-night session on the House floor to protest Republican inaction on gun legislation.
