Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kazakhstan's Astana, Modi said it required concerted efforts to rein in radicalisation, terrorist recruitment and terror financing issues.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that it was a historic day for Pakistan as it had become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
With India formally becoming a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) has been designated to represent the Indian industry at the SCO Business Council.
The Prime Minister also strongly pitched for enhancing connectivity without impinging on sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"The SCO gives us a powerful platform for partnerships to promote peace, build trust and spur economic development for shared prosperity", he said.
"All member states, old and new, should work in close coordination, deepen mutual trust and increase mutual support in their endeavor to build a community of shared future featuring equality, mutual support, solidarity and sharing of weal and woe", he said.

His remarks assume significance as they come weeks after India boycotted the high-profile Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing in which 29 world leaders took part.
China is vocal about its stand to block India's admission into the 48-member Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). The Prime Minister returned home in the early hours on 10 June 2017.
India's membership in the SCO was strongly pushed by Russian Federation while Pakistan's entry into the grouping was backed by China.
"Both leaders greeted each other at the Leaders' Lounge at the Astana Opera on Thursday evening before the SCO concert", the source said.
Alongside the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenk, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani and Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj also attended the summit as observers.
