British Prime Minister Theresa May is to meet the head of the Northern Ireland branch of Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein in London on Thursday, Sinn Fein said in a statement.
Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams also led a party delegation including its leader in the North, Michelle O'Neill, for a first meeting on Northern Ireland with the new Taoiseach. Sinn Fein won seven seats in the British parliament at last week's election, compared to the DUP's 10, but has said it will maintain its boycott and not take up the seats.
But the DUP leader insisted it was now down to Sinn Féin whether an agreement is done.
"We know each other and we understand each other", she said.
Pat McFadden says DUP leader Arlene Foster will be "very keen" to secure terms with the European Union that allows barrier free trade between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Government sources suggested that the Conservatives do not necessarily need an agreement with the DUP before Wednesday, because the DUP would be unlikely to support the opposition Labour Party and its leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The PM has rejected claims the deal would undermine its duty to be impartial in Northern Ireland.
She added: "Progress will not come from a deal between the DUP and Tories to prop up a Government in Westminster with an austerity and Brexit agenda but through the full implementation of the agreements and an Executive that respects the rights and delivers for all in society".
Ms Foster said the meeting with Mr Varadkar was useful and pleasant. However, "a little side bargain to keep Theresa May in power, a temporary little arrangement, won't have any integrity".
May received members of Northern Ireland's other political parties on Thursday to reassure them that any deal with the DUP would not affect the government's neutrality in Northern Ireland.
"We will go in to speak with Sinn Fein again on Monday morning to try and get that set up as quickly as possible, because devolution works and works for everybody in Northern Ireland".
