A deadlocked jury failed to reach a verdict in Bill Cosby's sexual assault case after six days of deliberation, leading to the judge to declare a mistrial.
Camille was not present at the courthouse Saturday morning, when the judge declared a mistrial after a jury said they were hopelessly deadlocked. On Saturday morning, all jurors agreed that there was "hopeless deadlock that can not be resolved on further deliberations", BuzzFeed News reported.
Prosecutors announced immediately that they would retry the case, leading to the prospect of the now frail and disgraced comedian, once adored by millions as "America's Dad", could yet return to court. The charges each carry a standard sentence range of five to 10 years in prison, but legal experts say the sentence for each count should run concurrently under Pennsylvania law since they all cover the same incident and conduct.
After deliberating for more than 52 hours since Monday, a tired panel told Judge Steven T O'Neill that they could not reach consensus against the 79-year-old, who faced three counts of aggravated indecent assault, each carrying a possible 10-year prison term.
After the mistrial was declared, some of the women who accused Cosby of sexual misconduct in past decades were crying as they gathered around Constand, consoling her. But like that Rolling Stone song says "you don't always get what you want". In the deposition, which was released in 2015 at the request of The Associated Press, Cosby said he obtained several prescriptions for quaaludes in the 1970s and offered the now-banned sedatives to women he wanted to have sex with.
Camille appeared with Bill during certain days of Cosby's sexual assault trial. The next thing she knew she became incapacitated and "frozen".

The FBI said it was investigating the shooter's "activities and social media impressions" in the months leading up to the attack. Jack Sava , the hospital's director of trauma, said Friday. "Predicting the length of his hospital stay is hard today", said Dr.
Cosby did not take the stand during the proceedings, but did speak with reporters outside the courtroom on Friday.
For now, Cosby's fate remains unclear.
But that wasn't what made the biggest news in the aftermath of the mistrial - the story centered on Bill Cosby's wife Camille.
She testified that Cosby acted as a mentor before offering her unidentified pills one night that left her unable to stop his advances.
Cosby's defense attorneys rested their case after less than an hour; Cosby himself was rumored to be testifying, but ultimately chose not to take the stand. But in the years since, numerous women came forward to describe similar encounters of being drugged by Cosby before being sexually assaulted by him. He claimed the pills were Benadryl, an allergy medication. She issued a statement calling District Attorney Kevin Steele "heinously and exploitively ambitious". "Everyone is assuming one way or another", said O'Neill.
"This is a case about drug-fueled sexual assault", said Steele.
