House Majority Whip Steve Scalise remains in critical condition Friday, days after a shooting at an early-morning baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia.
During the baseball practice on Wednesday, a gunman opened fire, injuring Scalise, congressional staffer Zach Barth, Tyson Foods lobbyist Matt Mika and two members of the Capitol Police force, Crystal Griner and David Bailey.
The FBI has contacted at least one of the three congressmen to inform them of their inclusion on the list.
"It's been much more hard than people even thought at the time", Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday, adding he also visited the wounded Capitol Police officer at the hospital.
As for Scalise, he's still in critical condition, but he's improving. He remains sedated but has been able to respond to his family.
"After he leaves the hospital, he will require a period of healing and of rehabilitation".
Sava said he told Scalise's family that "I am not declaring victory until he's playing ball in his back yard with his family".
Sava said Friday that there are hundreds of bullet fragments in Scalise's body, but "we have no intention to try and remove all the bullet fragments at this point".
Griner, Bailey and a third officer, Henry Cabrera, engaged the gunman nearly immediately, and Alexandria Police officers quickly added support upon arriving at the scene, eventually fatally wounding the alleged gunman, identified by federal law enforcement sources to CNN as James Hodgkinson.

She testified that the assault occurred in a visit to the home of Cosby , who was a Temple trustee, when she was 30 and he was 66. More than 40 women have said that Cosby sexually assaulted them, though this case was the first to be tried in criminal court.

He underwent surgery but to mend significant internal injuries, including a broken hip and damage to internal organs.
House Speaker Paul Ryan has paid a visit to wounded Majority Whip Steve Scalise at the hospital.
Scalise is being treated in the hospital's intensive care unit.
The Louisiana Republican was shot in the hip Wednesday morning in the baseball practice shooting by an IL man with grudges against President Donald Trump and the GOP.
The charity game pitting Republican lawmakers against their Democratic colleagues was set to proceed as scheduled at 7:05 p.m.at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball team, with thousands of spectators expected in the stands. When the members of the Republican team were announced, mention of Scalise's name drew a standing ovation throughout the stadium.
