Goal.com now report that Alves is "close" to becoming City's third signing of the summer.

And, according to Mundo Deportivo in Spain, the Brazilian could be set for a reunion with his former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, at Manchester City.

Mundo Deportivo claims that the 34-year-old has been in talks with City's hierarchy over a move to the Etihad Stadium and a deal could now be completed "in the coming days".

Speculation that Alves is due to leave heightened on Saturday when teammate Gonzalo Higuain took to social media to bid Alves farewell.
