After months of reports by the American media that Trump was under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the story died when the former FBI director James Comey testified under oath that Trump was personally never under investigation. Mark Warner of Virginia, the panel's top Democrat, didn't provide any other details regarding the meeting.

Grassley and Feinstein met late Tuesday to discuss the Russian Federation matter following testimony from Attorney General Jeff Sessions before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Politico reported. The order also covers separate inquiries into several key Trump associates including former national security adviser Michael Flynn, campaign adviser Paul Manafort, foreign policy aide Carter Page and outside adviser Roger Stone.

Comey also testified he had told Trump he was not under investigation.
