Officials late Wednesday confirmed San Francisco residents Louie, 50, and Chan, 56, and 46-year-old Lefiti, of Hercules, were killed in the shooting. Authorities have begun interviewing families of victims and witnesses to try to determine Lam's motive.
Jimmy Lam, 38, asked in March for his overtime hours to be cut back three months before he embarked on a shooting spree at the Potrero Hill package-sorting facility, Teamsters Local secretary treasurer Joseph Cilia told the AP. Cilia said he would not figure out why Lam would open fire on fellow drivers.
UPS spokeswoman Susan Rosenberg said the company has marshaled additional drivers, loaders and management from other facilities to help with the backlog. Cilia says two other drivers who were wounded have been released from the hospital and will be OK. Then they found the gunman, who killed himself. That gunman had recently been fired from the facility.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
After firing on co-workers, the suspect turned a gun on himself when confronted by police, according to NBC Bay Area and ABC 7.
"It could have been worse", he said, "lives were saved today".
Mr Lefiti's cousin, Mack Toia, told KGO-TV he was waiting to pick up Mr Lefiti when he heard shots.
Police arrived in minutes.
It was not immediately clear how many employees were at the building, but UPS said the warehouse employed 350 people.
As the police officers conducted a search for Lam, the other employees still inside the United Parcel Service building exited it with their hands up in the air, at the request of the police.

Auto shop owner Robert Kim said he heard about five to eight rapid gunshots. Chaplin said the incident did not appear to terrorism-related.

The deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history occurred in June 2016 when a gunman claiming allegiance to the Islamic State militant group killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Video footage from the scene showed a massive police presence near the facility, with workers being escorted outside and embracing one another on the sidewalk.
