A 32-year-old man has appeared in court in the past few minutes charged with the murder of a woman whose remains were found in the Wicklow Mountains.

Tragically the lady who was killed is named as 61-yr-old Patricia O'Connor, from Rathfarnham in Dublin, and who was reported missing on 2 June.

This afternoon Kieran Green of Mountain View Park in Churchtown appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with her murder.

The court was told that when he was charged, Mr Greene replied: "It was self-defence".

She went on to quote some of Sessions' key phrases from his hearing, hilariously mocking his attempts to avoid answering the questions.

Gardai have identified the victim in the case of the body that was discovered dismembered in the Wicklow mountains earlier this week. His solicitor Patrick McNeice asked that his client receive medical attention while in custody.

Gardaí believe Ms O'Connor, a grandmother, was killed in her home at Mountain View in Rathfarnham in Dublin nearly two weeks ago.

"Patricia was a lovely woman, she moved out of the area ten years ago but returned around a year ago".

The judge said due to the seriousness of the charge there was no question of bail and remanded Mr Green in custody.
