Saudi central bank warns lenders on Qatar exposure

Russia's state RIA Novosti news agency says the Qatari foreign minister will visit Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart amid a diplomatic crisis between the Gulf nation and other Arab countries.

The announcement came a day after Senegal recalled its envoy from Doha, citing its "active solidarity" with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain issued statements cutting ties with Qatar on June 5.

Qatar has yet to receive any list of demands from the Arab countries that have cut ties, Sheikh Mohammed said.

Kuwait has led a regional effort to mediate, but the four states intensified the pressure on Friday by placing dozens of people with alleged links to Qatar on terrorism blacklists.

"This can certainly turn into a new status quo, but certainly not to the benefit of any of the parties and certainly not Qatar", Awad said.

Saudi Arabia and its close allies in the region moved against Qatar, cutting off sea and air travel and moving to isolate their fellow sunni Gulf country.

Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt severed relations with Doha on Monday, accusing it of supporting Islamist militants and their arch-adversary Iran - charges Qatar calls baseless.

The Qatari ambassador to Washington, Meshal Hamad al-Thani, wrote on Twitter that a key pillar of Doha's foreign policy was mediation.

"We have reached a cul-de-sac in terms of trying to convince Qatar to change course", said Gargash, drawing a parallel to a similar diplomatic crisis in 2014.

Qatar strongly denies the allegations and has expressed a willingness to engage in talks to resolve the crisis. The two countries have both provided support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and back rebels fighting to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

It also stated that the Arab nations which have cut off relations with Qatar provide 15% of the country's imports, possibly causing considerable shortages of major commodities, such as those which are used in construction projects and the food items.

Banks have also been requested to share information about exposure to Qatar through products such as equities, bonds and interbank funds, other people said.

- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday, as the dispute between Gulf powers and Qatar escalates.

U.S. President Donald Trump, who tweeted Tuesday about Qatar funding extremists, called Qatari ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday and offered to host leaders at the White House to resolve the crisis.

On Wednesday, Turkey's parliament ratified two deals on deploying troops to Qatar and training the Gulf nation's security forces.

Al-Jazeera offices have been shut down by authorities in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

- Iran's oil minister says Qatar's regional isolation will not affect Tehran's plans to develop its vast South Pars offshore gas field that it shares with the Arab Gulf country, Iranian state TV reported.

Saudi Arabia said it was committed to "decisive and swift action to cut off all funding sources for terrorism" in a statement carried by the state news agency SPA, while Bahrain hailed US efforts to ensure "international solidarity" on the issue.
