NEW YORK | "Wonder Woman" wrapped up Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" at the weekend box office, pulling in an estimated $57.2 million in North American theaters.

Universal's The Mummy looked its age, selling a relatively feeble USD32.2 million in tickets in its debut weekend.

While positions may be switched worldwide, Wonder Woman is still the crème de la crème of the box office for a second week in a row stateside.

The Gal Gadot-starrer will also make more during its second frame than did both "Suicide Squad" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", despite those films having larger opening weekends than "Wonder Woman" ($133.7 million for "Suicide Squad" and $166 million for "Batman v Superman").

In the case of Universal's Dark Universe, this is the third time in the last 13 years that the studio has attempted to generate a universe of new films based on its classic monster-movie properties.

Games not optimised for One X will still benefit from faster load times and anisotropic filtering, Microsoft said. You're essentially looking at up to 15-percent better performance from Scorpio than a plain RX 480.

"We would love to see more gross domestically", said Nick Carpou, Universal's president of domestic distribution, who asserted that "a lot of the attention that "The Mummy" garnered here, aggregated to the global total". Universal Pictures is reportedly planning a "Dark Universe" film series, but there is no information whether Tom Cruise will be a part of this project or not. Even though the film has officially bombed at the domestic box office, it has soared overseas and pushed the box office returns well over its production budget. On the other hand, #Tom Cruise's new movie "The Mummy" debuted with only $30 million.

The final two films in this week's top ten include the latest entry to the Alien saga, Alien: Covenant with $1.8 million (bring its four-week total to an underwhelming $71.2 million) and Everything, Everything which brought in an additional $1.6 million to boost its four-week total to $31.7 million. So far, "The Mummy" nabbed a B- on Cinema Score.

But critics slammed the film, directed by Alex Kurtzman; it has a dismal 17 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. "Beauty and the Beast" director Bill Condon is set to helm "Bride of Frankenstein". We're looking forward to any number of the ones in the group. Rounding out the top five was "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", which nabbed an estimated $6.2 million domestically.

Cruise mostly recently opened "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" to a $22.9 million domestic opening, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" to $55.5 million, and "Edge of Tomorrow" to $28.9 million.
