Long Beach State is looking to make the College World Series for the first time since 1998.

Gavin held the Long Beach State offense in check, throwing a complete-game shutout to defeat the Dirtbags 12-0 in Game 2 of the NCAA Super Regionals Saturday at Blair Field.

The Seminoles' 19-run margin of victory broke the super-regional record set when Louisville beat Oklahoma State 20-2 in 2007. Buckley said he's never been involved in a college baseball atmosphere like the finale on Sunday where both fan bases were trading chants from the first pitch to the final out.

Coach Troy Buckley said the Dirtbags chased fastballs up and took strikes on the outer half of the plate.

Long Beach State starter John Sheaks (8-4) pitched well too, allowing just two runs on two hits in five innings. The junior right-hander struck out seven. He has 113 strikeouts and 19 walks in 17 appearances.

Another giant leap forward came with the ESPN television exposure for two weekends at Blair Field where capacity crowds were louder than ever before.

"They've taught me so much about how to become a leader", Duran said. "At the same time, you don't make the game bigger than it is". He hit a batter and gave up a double in the fifth inning to lose the ideal game and no-hitter in a matter of minutes. "But no matter what it was, we're going to Omaha and I'm back and I did whatever I could to help my team go. It's fun catching him because we're on the same page every single time".

TCU's Evan Skoug, who hit the go-ahead two-run homer in a 3-2 victory in Game 1 on Saturday, and Elliott Barzilli went deep in the Horned Frogs' win in Fort Worth, Texas. LBSU has outscored its playoff opponents 16-3 in the first three innings of the six games.

"The lead is huge because you can feel the momentum on your side", McCaughan said.

During the dinner, the president asked him if he wanted to stay on as Federal Bureau of Investigation director, Comey said. He added: "I have never felt pressure to intervene or interfere in any way.in an ongoing investigation".

One silver lining for the Dirtbags was the performance of second baseman Jarren Duran.

"That's what it's supposed to be like", Cal State Fullerton coach Rick Vanderhook said.

The Beach still trailed in the bottom of the ninth, but mustachioed leadoff hitter Brock Lundquist cracked a beauty of a double to left center to get the buildup going.

Sean Wymer (5-4) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings after TCU ace Jared Janczak, a former Belton standout, struck out 10 in 6.1 innings. Smith allowed nine runs - eight earned - on 11 hits in three innings. He struck out four. Jack Pabich cleaned up, pitching the final 2.2 innings, giving up just one hit. The Dirtbags stranded 11 runners. "As far as the rivalry and all of that, I think we've done our job to getting back to being competitive".

"(I got) goosebumps", Gavin said. Bryant singled to load the bases before Rivera struck out Cullen and Chris Hudgins to end the game and put the Dirtbags a win away from the College World Series. The sophomore hit a batter and gave up a single to shortstop Timmy Richards.

Smith (9-2) the first two batters of the game on two pitches and drew an early visit to the mound.

Rivera earned his 13th save of the season in Game 1.

"It's one game", Buckley said.
