After weeks with no winning numbers, one lucky ticket was sold in California Saturday night.

A Powerball ticket costs $2.

The reason the jackpot has grown so large is that no one has matched all the numbers since April 1.

"It's a very good feeling to be the winning store", Matthew Alberre told NBC News on Sunday, adding that they feel "blessed" for playing a role in the win.

Saturday's jackpot is the seventh-largest in Powerball's history, according to the California lottery. "Whoever the victor turns out to be will now have the option of taking the entire $447.8 million spread out over 30 years, or they can elect to take the lump sum amount of $279.1 million".

Doubts over Theresa May´s grip on power as DUP deal talks continue
Many of those Conservatives now opposing May are those who wanted to remain in the EU. The job is effectively second-in-command to the prime minister.

The ticket sold in the Sun City area of Menifee in Riverside County is worth an estimated $448 million before taxes are taken into account. The homes today are part of Menifee, population 89,000, but those living in Sun City still proudly call the community by its original name, Blais said.

California Lottery officials said the retailer where the winning ticket was sold will receive a $1 million "retailer bonus".

The unnamed victor has a year to claim the jackpot.

Before the drawing Saturday night the jackpot was estimated at $435 million. The cash prize would be $279.1 million. The jackpot had grown because no one had matched all the numbers since April 1. The Powerball game is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
