Michigan St players charged in campus sexual assault case

On top of the felony charge of criminal sexual misconduct, King was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person. He's facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

It was not clear when King or Corley would be arraigned. The victim told police she was at a party during the early morning hours of January 16 at the University Villa Apartments, which are on campus in East Lansing.

Det. Chad Davis, with the MSU police department, testified Tuesday morning that King asked the victim if she "wanted to speak somewhere quiet".

The detective also said Corley and Vance entered the bathroom and forced the woman to perform oral sex. Police said a group text message between King, Corley and Vance implicated Corley and Vance in the January 16 sexual assault.

Moments ago Judge Richard Ball authorized criminal sexual assault charges in the case in 54b District court.

The school announced February 9 that three players were suspended as part of a sexual assault investigation. All three players say they're innocent.

When police asked the victim about the video, she said she was not aware of the recording and did not consent to it.

The players were all in the Lansing courtroom for the "swear to" hearing where the evidence is presented. Head coach Mark Dantonio said they have been dismissed from the program. As MSU Trustees we have a moral, ethical and legal obligations to choose our words wisely, protect our students, faculty and institution.

"The MSU Police Department has zero tolerance for sexual assault", Dunlap said.

The accuser's attorney Karen Truszkowski says it's about time. And when Dantonio said in December that he expected more attrition in the offseason, no one knew that six freshmen from that group would be among those leaving before another snap of football was played. Like Corley, the former 4-star chip King was primed to become a steady contributor up front on defense for the Spartans. Attorneys for the athletes have maintained their clients' innocence. "And Coach D had a sense it involved some sort of sexual allegation and he immediately said don't say anymore, called the OIE (Office of Institutional Equity) office and got the appropriate person involved".

Donnie Corley and Josh King are charged with forcing a woman to perform sexual acts on them during an on-campus party in January. "Sexual violence is abhorrent, and our thoughts are with the young woman and her family at this hard time".

Mark Dantonio would not address the dismissal of defensive lineman Auston Robertson on Tuesday, other than calling him "a risk" as the former player faces sexual assault charges. In its 14-page report, the law firm said a fourth player (who was not named in the findings) informed Dantonio of that alleged assault hours after the incident. Nassar's criminal cases in Eaton and Ingham counties and in federal court are pending.

The woman's lawyer has not yet responded to a request for comment; we will update this post when we hear back. Winter brought very serious off-the-field issues to supplement the on-the-field catastrophe, as a sexual assault complaint was filed against three players. He served as director of college advancement and performance.

Blackwell was previously given one-month contract extensions on his deal to extend him through the month of May.

Also on Monday afternoon, Jones Day investigations released its internal investigation report for the Michigan State sexual assault allegations.
