Manchester United close in on signing of Álvaro Morata from Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho's side moved quickly for Morata after Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann ruled out a move to United last week, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had rejected Atletico's appeal of a transfer ban imposed by Federation Internationale de Football Association.

It appears that Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata will become Jose Mourinho's first signing of the summer after various outlets in Spain reported that a deal is all but agreed.

The Swedish striker was only at Old Trafford for one season, scoring 24 goals, and had an option for a second year, but had his season cut short by a devastating knee injury. Which is normal for an attacker who has scored 19 goals.

Morata is a fine player but Kane is genuinely world-class.

At 6 " 1 Morata is more than capable of providing a physical presence up front and is exactly the kind of player Mourinho has built his sides around in the past.

Manchester United fans would see the prospect of a partnership between Varane and Eric Bailly as nothing short of mouth-watering.

It looks as though Morata is on his way to United where he should be guaranteed more regular action as the Red Devils have a lack of strikers with Ibrahimovic gone and Wayne Rooney expected to follow him out the exit door.

Morata's agent, Juanma Lopez, confirmed his client's wishes, saying, "He doesn't want to go through another season like that".

Although Tolisso, who tallied 14 goals and seven assists this season, desires to play for a Champions League club, Milan's recent overhaul is something they hope to use to attract him.

Fortune added: "That's just going to happen every summer, with so many players being linked", he said.
